The 1954 Hudson Italia was a special model produced by the late Hudson Motor Car Company. Hudson faced financial difficulties during this period and the brand began to lose its place among major automakers. However, the launch of the Hudson Italia was considered a recent effort by the brand. This car was one of Hudson’s last forays and was designed to boost the company’s prestige.

Italian design firm Touring Superleggera played a large role in the design of Hudson Italia. Touring Superleggera was known as a company that produced special designs for many famous automobile brands at that time. Hudson decided to use the capabilities of the Touring Superleggera to create an original and remarkable car. While Italian designer Felice Mario Boano was creating the lines of Hudson Italia, it was also remarkable that the car’s body was thinly produced from aluminum.

However, the launch of Hudson Italia failed to help overcome financial difficulties, and Hudson Motor Car Company merged with Nash Motors in 1954 to become American Motors Corporation (AMC). As a result of this merger, the Hudson brand was replaced by AMC, and production of Hudson Italia was terminated.
